Switch to Prevon
Import your Google Keep notes into Prevon
Download your Keep notes with Google Takeout, then point Prevon at the Takeout zip or folder. Notes, checklists, labels and created and edited dates come across, and every note is encrypted on your device during the import.
How to get your notes out
What Prevon reads: A Google Takeout archive containing Keep
- Go to Google Takeout, deselect everything, then select Keep.
- Create the export and download the zip when Google emails you.
- In Prevon, choose Import, pick Google Keep, and select the zip or the unzipped Keep folder. Prevon reads the .json file Takeout writes for each note.
What comes across, and what doesn't
Comes across
- Note text and titles
- Checklists, as Markdown checkboxes with their ticked state
- Labels, as tags
- Created and edited dates
- Links attached to a note
- Images attached to a note, when they are in the Takeout archive
- Whether a note was pinned or archived, and its colour, kept with the note
Stays behind
- Notes from Keep’s trash are not treated as ordinary notes — the report flags each one so you can decide
- Reminders and collaborator lists
What happens after you point Prevon at it
The import reads your export on your device and encrypts each note there before it is stored. Nothing is uploaded, and the original export is left exactly as it was — the import reads files, it never edits or deletes them.
When it finishes you get a report: how many notes came in, which folders were re-created, and every file it skipped with the reason. Nothing is dropped silently.
Run the same import again later and it updates the notes that changed instead of creating duplicates, so you can keep using your old app while you decide.
Prevon is in private beta.
There is no public download yet, so this import runs in the private beta for now. Join the waitlist and we write once, when Prevon opens to everyone.
