Prevon

Switch to Prevon

Import a folder of plain text files into Prevon

Point Prevon at any folder of .txt files and each file becomes one note, filed in the folder it came from. Each note is encrypted on your device as it is imported, and the files themselves are left untouched.

How to get your notes out

What Prevon reads: Any folder or zip of .txt / .text files

  1. Gather the files into one folder. Subfolders are fine — they become folders in Prevon.
  2. In Prevon, choose Import, pick Plain text, and select the folder or a zip of it.

What comes across, and what doesn't

Comes across

  • Each file’s full text, with line endings normalised
  • A title from the first line that has text, otherwise the file name
  • Your folder structure

Stays behind

  • Dates — a text file carries none, and Prevon does not guess from the file system
  • Tags or attachments, which plain text has no syntax for

Every file is accounted for

An empty file still comes through as a note rather than vanishing, so you can tell the difference between “imported and empty” and “skipped”.

What happens after you point Prevon at it

The import reads your export on your device and encrypts each note there before it is stored. Nothing is uploaded, and the original export is left exactly as it was — the import reads files, it never edits or deletes them.

When it finishes you get a report: how many notes came in, which folders were re-created, and every file it skipped with the reason. Nothing is dropped silently.

Run the same import again later and it updates the notes that changed instead of creating duplicates, so you can keep using your old app while you decide.
