Prevon

Switch to Prevon

Import your Bear notes into Prevon

Export your notes from Bear in Markdown format, then point Prevon at the exported folder. Every note’s text, title and #tags come across, and each note is encrypted on your device as it is imported.

How to get your notes out

What Prevon reads: Bear’s Markdown export, one file per note

  1. In Bear, select the notes you want to move (Select All works for everything).
  2. Use Export Notes and choose the Markdown format.
  3. In Prevon, choose Import, pick Bear, and select the exported folder or a zip of it.

What comes across, and what doesn't

Comes across

  • Every note’s text, as Markdown
  • Titles from the note’s first heading, or the file name
  • Bear’s #tags, including nested tags, read from the note text
  • Images and files the note references, when they are in the export

Stays behind

  • Created and edited dates — Bear’s Markdown export does not include them

What happens after you point Prevon at it

The import reads your export on your device and encrypts each note there before it is stored. Nothing is uploaded, and the original export is left exactly as it was — the import reads files, it never edits or deletes them.

When it finishes you get a report: how many notes came in, which folders were re-created, and every file it skipped with the reason. Nothing is dropped silently.

Run the same import again later and it updates the notes that changed instead of creating duplicates, so you can keep using your old app while you decide.
