For researchers
A notes app for researchers that keeps field notes on your device
Prevon encrypts your notes on your own device, so field notes, interview material and unpublished ideas are not stored readable on a company’s servers. Its search finds notes by what they mean rather than the exact words, and that search runs on the device too.
What matters for research notes
Research notes pile up for years, and the one you need is rarely phrased the way you remember it. Prevon’s search matches meaning, so a query for “participants who mentioned transport costs” can find notes that never use the word transport.
That search runs on your device. Your notes do not have to go to a server to be understood, which matters when they contain things you promised to keep confidential.
How it works in practice
- Notes are encrypted on your device with a key from your 12-word Recovery Seed. We never see it.
- Import an existing Obsidian vault, Notion workspace or a folder of plain text files in one go. Every import source.
- Works without an internet connection — your notes and search live on the device.
What to know before relying on it
Prevon is in a private beta and has not had an independent security audit. It is designed so that we cannot read your notes, but “designed” is the honest word until someone outside the company has checked it.
Prevon makes no claim about meeting an ethics board’s or funder’s data-handling requirements. Check what yours ask for.
There is no citation manager, no reference export and no collaboration. It is a private notebook, not a research platform.

There is no public download yet. Leave an email and we write once, when it opens to everyone.
